What is a digital x-ray?

Digital x-rays is the best technique used for capturing the best image of your teeth. The reason is that traditional x-rays relied on photographic film to be processed where it required the film to be exposed to chemical in a dark room. Human error and freshness or chemicals contributed to overexposure or underexposure of films leading to error in reading the films by the dentist. At times, the patients were asked to undergo additional unnecessary x-rays leading ti additional radiation. Digital x-rays are becoming more prevalent as technology improves leading to more accurate diagnosis and less radiation exposure. The drawback is that digital x-rays are more costly. However they are worth the cost due to their lower rate of radiation, more accurate imagery, and speed of development.

 

Do you provide digital or traditional x-ray?

Due to the inherent benefits and safety reasons mentioned above, Dr. Kazerooni provides digital x-rays only. Our office uses the latest technology featuring advanced electronic sensors which address the issues of overexposure or underexposure more common with traditional or first generation digital x-ray machines.
