Composite Fillings

White composite filling is different than amalgam fillings. Dr. Kazerooni believes in giving the patients the choice of the filling and educating them of the benefits and drawbacks of each. Some critics of amalgam filling view the mercury in amalgam potentially toxic. Some dentists even use the term "silver filling" when in fact the filling has more mercury in it than it has silver. Go figure!

The white composite filling is simply a more advanced technology in addition to being more natural looking and thereby it make this an esthetically better choice. The improvements in the material has also allowed them to be used in the back teeth where more stress is placed upon them.
